bona drag

A couple weeks ago Jason and I drove up north to do a shoot for Bona Drag. I always love working with those cool girls and it was fun for Jason and I to collaborate on a project. It was Super Bowl Sunday when we drove up to Lake Cachuma to scout locations (and make sure it still looked the same as the last time we were there). Luckily it did, so we made our way up to Solvang where we posted up at the Solvang Brewing Co. to watch the game (well, the half time show and commercials for me). Afterwards we decided to do a lil Sideways sight-seeing and hit up The Hitching Post and AJ Spurs. Pretty fun stuff. Stayed the night in Buellton and then got up bright and early, had some coffee and breakfast in Solvang and started the shoot. Here are some photos from the shoot, the weather and the surroundings definitely added to the witchy feeling and I had a blast dancing around in the wind. Oh, and the clothes and jewelry were to die for...as expected!

valentines

That little trip Jason was planning for us? It was to San Francisco, which I had thought/hoped it was. We drove up on Sunday and took the 1 for most of the way. Stopped in Cambria to check out some antiques, saw the elephant seals (mating season, yikes!), drank a beer in Big Sur, and stopped at our favorite pizza place in Santa Cruz. We were beat when we got to San Francisco so we decided to go see a movie in the mall across the street and relax. Monday morning we went to St. Francis Fountain in the Mission for brunch. Oh man, it was good. An old school diner playing the Police, perfect place to start off the day with coffee and mimosas. We started vintage shopping in the area and then headed over to Haight St. Stopped after a little while for another mimosa at The Alembic Bar when it started to rain too hard. That night we met up with our friends Micah and Alexis and did a little bar hopping, drinking PBRs and shots of whiskey. Woke up on Valentine's Day to a clear sky and a slight hangover. We took a cable car down to Fisherman's Wharf because when we were in San Fran last time we took some photobooth photos at the Musee Mechanique and, of course, we had to do it again. And get a fortune from one of the mechanical gypsy fortune tellers. That night we got all fancied up for dinner at Millenium. It is a beautiful rose-colored, gourmet vegetarian restaurant and that night they had a five-course Valentine's menu. Sorry for all the food photos, but it was amazing! Afterwards we walked a few (freezing) blocks to the Davies Symphony Hall to see the Chicago Symphony. It was so nice to get away for a couple days, Jason does good.
