I don't know, there's something about February that brings out the inner vamp in me. Maybe it's because it's the end of winter (yeah, winter in California, ha!), or maybe it's Valentine's Day but I get this urge to dress up a little more again. It's going to be Jason and my 4 year anniversary and we are going away to an undisclosed location (undisclosed to me, that is) for Valentine's Day. I do know it's not tropical so I plan on packing lace bodysuits, a tight black skirt, sheer black tights, velvet platforms, silky gowns and matte red lipstick. And get a good manicure. Most likely red. Or something a little Chanel Vamp?

It has been a hard weekend for me so let's get light! You know from this blog of mine that I love holidays and it's no different with Christmas. When Jason and I first met, he had just moved to Los Angeles and wasn't sure if he was going to stay or not. We weren't serious yet but we decided to make a list of all the things we wanted to do (and that I hadn't done since I am from the LA county). We would have to finish the list before he could leave. Well...he never left. And actually, we haven't finished that list. Anyways, we like making lists of fun things to do. We made one of the things we wanted to do this month to celebrate the holidays. Here's a little bit of it.
1. DECORATE
First off, shut off the TV. Put on some Christmas music and pour some (spiked) egg nog and get decorating. Trim the tree, hang up paper snowflakes, put twinkly lights where ever you can, get creative! My friend makes her own wreath with different branches from her neighbor's yards and another cut out all different snowflakes and taped them together to make a garland.

2. DOWNTOWN CHRISTMAS BAR HOP
Jason and I want to get super dressed up and hit up some historical bars around downtown LA. Here's a couple on my list...
Bona Vista Lounge at the Bonaventure Hotel (revolving lounge at the top of a hotel)

The Gallery Bar and Cognac Room at the Biltmore Hotel (one of the last stops of the Black Dahlia)

Broadway Bar (eh, it looks interesting. And it's historical)

And if we are lucky we might find a band and...
3. DANCE!
I would love to find a place where maybe a big band was playing and just shake it! We might just have to...

4. CRASH SOMEONE ELSE'S HOLIDAY PARTY
One time Jason and I were invited to go with a friend to a company's holiday party. We didn't know another soul but it ended up being a blast. There was a comedian who made fun of different people who worked for the company (wasn't embarrassing for me!), an open bar, lots of good food and once people were twisted it got weird. It always does.

5. THROW A CHRISTMAS PARTY
Have everyone dress up nice, make some crazy punch, put out typical holiday hors d'oeurves like deviled eggs and (veggie) pigs in a blanket and tack up some misteltoe.

6. TAKE A PHOTO WITH SANTA
We took one a couple years ago but this time we wanna take one with our pup Leon. Family photo!

7. BUILD A FORT
By the Christmas tree. (Done!) We dragged our mattress out to the living room and rented 'Midnight in Paris' and ordered pizza. We don't have enough sheets to really go all out but you still get that junior high sleep over feeling with the Christmas lights on all night.

8. HOME TOWN CHRISTMAS WALK
This might be my favorite Christmas tradition. Every year since forever, one evening before Christmas my parents and I go to dinner somewhere in the downtown area of my hometown (when I say downtown, think Main St. USA) and then we walk around and look in all the closed for the night shops and then make a stop at the live Nativity scene by the city hall. (Unfortunately) for Jason, he is now involved in this tradition, where we probably will tell the same stories over and over again. And then we drive around and look at the same the Christmas lights. It's the best.

Chapter posted some photos of our house on their blog last week so I had to share. I've been wanting to show some pics of our yellow house in the hills for awhile now. I love this place, there are so many windows and trees surrounding it. It kinda feels like a treehouse, especially in our bedroom. The only thing is that we have to walk up 82 stairs to get to it, but I figure thats probably a good thing. in disguise.

Last Thursday Jason and I and our friends Dustin and Lisa brought a little adult fun to the happiest place on earth. -My obsession with pumpkin is getting a little overboard this month. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bread, and Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale (hellloooo)...and now I want to make some pumpkin spice oatmeal thanks to A Beautiful Mess. Actually all of them look amazing, and perfect for the season. oh yeah, AND I want to make these pumpkin pie pop-tarts. P.S. Jason is really over my pumpkin addiction. Very sorry for another video post, but this is pretty much my inspiration at the moment. Well, what I have been listening to... 90's angsty girl bands (with a token a male or two, of course). All that's missing is a floral babydoll dress, a fur coat, some lace-up boots, oh and Clinique Black Honey lipstick and maybe some Sunflower perfume by Elizabeth Arden. Mmmm, maybe. I was never too fond of it.

P.S. While we are here and talking about the 90's, why don't we just throw in one of my all time favorite music videos? I could probably go on all night and add in all the Aerosmith videos featuring Alicia Silverstone. But let's save that for another post shall we?

This has to be one of my favorite films. Its so bad it's good, and Matt Dillon is a babe. I love the music and the late 70's fashion, and haircuts. I bought the video in high school after watching it on Cinemax or something but, unfortunately some dude stole it from me.

P.S. I've heard about this movie but never watched it before. I've gotta find it in decent quality. God, I love a movie about rebellious teens. I think I actually believe I am still one.

I just got back from two days camping in Big Bear. This time last year we went went with our friends Coco and Justin, so I think its a tradition now. Sunday morning we drove up, set up camp and skateboarded the hilly streets around the campsite. Afterwards we drove into town where we picked up dream catchers, a wind chime, Mexican blankets and a felt floppy hat. We stopped by the Oktoberfest but it was about to close. We were able to down a 32oz. of German beer each and Jason, Coco and I all tried the mechanical bull. When it got dark we drove back to camp where we lit a fire and ate all the required camp food- hot dogs, s'mores and chili. Played a little game of King's Cup and Coco and I freaked ourselves out about possible bear encounters. The next day we rented a boat for a couple of hours and cruised around the lake blasting Tom Petty. And Leon earned his sea legs. We were all so tired when we got back to the campsite we passed out early. It was super relaxing, but I'm excited to sleep in my own bed tonight. And to not have to worry about possible bear encounters.

Two days after our wedding we went to Aruba for a week. It was beautiful! My top five favorites...

5. Going out at night in the town of Palm Beach. We danced, took shots at Senor Frogs where the shot girl did all sorts of stupid stuff to us, explored giant resorts, and went swimming in the ocean at 3am.
4. Eating at the Screaming Eagle, the sister restaurant to our #1. Its a restaurant where you eat in bed, and the food was great.
3. Exploring the island in jeep. A bunch of the sites can only be seen off-roading along the coast. We saw ruins, a natural pool and a natural bridge, a beach where all the stones are stacked on top of each other and an ostrich farm.
2. Laying out in the ocean on a raft with a drink in my hand. I have never felt so relaxed.
1. Having dinner at the Flying Fishbone, a restaurant where all the tables are on a private beach. Some of the tables are actually in the water! The sunset was amazing!

Its my favorite time of the year! September and October are my favorite months, even though summer is ending (but really, does it ever end in California?), I've always loved this time of year because it's a time of new beginnings. Screw New Years, whenever the new school year comes around you always had time to reinvent yourself, and your wardrobe. I always loved picking out my back to school clothes and planning outfits for the first week of school. The only problem is, as us Californians are feeling right now, the first couple of weeks of school are always so hot! So all the sweaters and "fallish" clothes that were in the stores couldn't be worn until later. Even though I've been out of school for a little while now, I still get that same feeling. And I still like to buy some back to school clothes. Hey, I AM going back to acting school at least!
I have a couple new things going on in my life, besides my new husband. We just moved into a new place...a a little cottage up on one of those stair streets I love. Actually, it's my favorite stair street and we couldn't be more excited about it. There are so many trees around us and we have a great view of the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory and the Silverlake Reservoir. Once we are finished setting up, I wanna take some photos to post. A couple more things I'm excited about this fall...The LA County Fair (I think I've gone almost every year), starting acting and singing classes, going camping in Big Bear, having our house warming wine and cheese party which will probably turn into a whiskey and shotgunning beer party, and Halloween.
Here's a couple examples of what I'm feeling right now, online shopping-wise. Even though I usually don't like sweaters, I always feel like I need some for fall. As well, as some stuff that would be perfect for October.

I figured I should post the bachelorette photos before I post the honeymoon photos or else I would completely forget about them. Us ladies headed out to Palm Desert for the weekend. We stayed at the JW Marriott out there. Ive been going there with my family as since I was little, I always remember all the crazy bachelorette ladies in the pool. So it must have been ingrained in me to go for my bachelorette. We drove out on a Friday afternoon and made a couple stops at the thrift stores. When we got to the hotel we found out we had this crazy, huge room and started drinking, of course. Once another one of my girlfriends came we headed over to the Ace. Saturday, we actually got up pretty early to stake some spots at the pool. I have never been surrounded by so many beefy men, but it ended up being a pretty chill afternoon. That night we headed out to sushi, took the boat back to the lobby and went to the club where I proceeded to dance to every top 40 hit on the stage, and the go-go box. It ended up being a wild and crazy night, as it should. I just got back from Palm Springs where I attended another bachelorette party. I'm in my friends wedding in a couple weeks. It starting all over again!

I'm back from Aruba! And I'm a married woman! Before I get any wedding or honeymoon photos up, here's a shoot Kelley and I did for SGC NY last month. It was a tough, tough job. We had to run around the sunset strip playing pinball, jump on hotel beds, eat pizza, dance around Kibitz Room and take shots of whiskey!? What more did they want from us? We have a very hard life. The video of us in action is at the bottom.

Alright, not gonna be around for awhile so here's a little bit of what's going on..

A) Free People. This is pretty much what I'm going through right now. Limbo. I've always hated that word since I went to Catholic School (ahem limbo equals purgatory). On a brighter note I always know when I am in a state of change. They have always been extremely scary yet fantastically beautiful times in my life. And even when I know how stressed out I was, I can look back on that time and love the memories. I'm going through it right now.

B) Jason and "his men" went on their bachelor party this past weekend in lovely Las Vegas. I worked extreme hours both Friday and Saturday and had a rad shoot Saturday continuing on til Sunday. "The men" got caught up in horrible traffic Sunday, and I had this urging to go see a movie by myself. I hadn't done that in 8 years. I poured myself a little red wine in a water bottle and went to see Beginners. What a beautiful movie. Some of it is taped in Silverlake which I love...the dog park, Akbar, driving along Sunset Junction. And the story tugged at my heart strings while still being funny. I took myself out on a date. And belted out country music on the drive home. It was great. Beginners Trailer

C)I usually check out fashion blogs but I came across this blog a couple months ago and I've been addicted. I've only been to Georgia, Florida and Austin, Texas but I've always been enchanted by the south...especially Charleston. I think this lovely gal's blog is great...it makes me want to move there and just sit on porches, drink wine and watch the sun set. I think I may need drive there soon

D) Ahhh...bachelor parties. Speaking of which, I had my own extravaganza two weekends ago in Palm Springs. Once we get the polaroids scanned I'll post. All I have to say is I have a great group of girls in my life. A bunch of brunettes! (and one Aussie blonde who is arriving this week) Here's a preview...

The wedding countdown has officially begun. A week and a half!! And two weeks from today we will be in Aruba hopefully soaking up the sun and drinking some sort of tropical alcoholic drink. It all feels a bit surreal. Jason and I have been engaged since February 2010 and it just seemed like the wedding was always so far away. Its crazy that its now so soon. I'm really excited for the big day, but I feel like I should feel more like a bride. I just feel like myself, its really hard to explain. But I've never done this before so I'm not sure how I should feel. I can't wait til next Thursday when we check into our hotel and have the rehearsal dinner. All our friends and family are staying at the hotel, a couple weeks ago there was 25 rooms reserved. Its gonna be a giant Sirney/Parry family/friend reunion. And that makes me really happy. Here's to more surreal events!

My bridal shower was last week at my aunt's beautiful ranch house in Claremont. I've always loves how every room in the house is a different color and the backyard was perfect for this celebration. It was definitely hot but it was a blast. one game we played was where there were three teams would had to create a wedding dress out of toilet paper. I got to judge and it was great seeing how creative everyone could get. Coco created a toilet paper/daisy head wrap. It was amazing. I received many gorgeous gifts and it was fun having a mix of my family, friends and my mom's friends all there and mingling. My maid of honor Laila did such an incredible job. Oh, and I wore a Stone Cold Fox dress that I thought was perfect for this event, all lacey and sweet.
So excited for this weekend in Palm Springs...all I wanna do is work on my tan, dance and get crazy.

I'm back! The countdown to the wedding has begun. Last weekend was my bridal shower and this coming weekend is my bachelorette party. It's all happening!
Here's an overdose of 4th of July pics. We headed down to Newport Beach on the 3rd and things got wild. How else are you to celebrate America? We jumped around from the party next door to our house, danced to hip hop, walked the crazy streets of Newport, played a game of King's Cup with a ton of people and watched fireworks from the beach. Leon wore a lei since he's that kind of party dog. Oh and shotgunned Budweisers. It WAS the 4th of July after all.

My birthday was last Saturday. I started off the day having brunch and then walking around the Silverlake farmers market. We ran into so many crazy characters selling everything from poetry and refrigerator art to a dead blowfish. That night a few of us went to Bar Marmont for dinner. One of my friends knew the chef so they brought out every appetizer and after dinner, every desert. We were stuffed. We headed over to the Chateau Marmont for a little digestif. At midnight we went to Lexington Public House where we met up with more friends and things started to escalate after a round of vodka shots. We walked over to Paul & Andre's where we danced the rest of the night away, Corey worked on his yuck face and I fell more than a few times. Uggh. I had a blast!

eh, it's been awhile. i'm coming up on on 3 months til the 'big day'...oh shit. i'm kinda in that freak out mode. well, i was about two weeks ago and then i decided to just chill out and let everything work itself out. because it will. that and i know i was driving jason crazy. anyways, things are coming along. last week we finally decided on a honeymoon location and booked all the necessary bookings. since then when i just happen to online browse, i keep finding myself looking for teeny tiny dresses and teeny tiny bikinis (i have also just joined a gym so that i know i will feel fine in these teeny tiny pieces). one little spring trend that i think fits in just perfectly for my 'honeymoon wear' is macrame. i am even thinking of picking it up as a hobby. i could make plant holders to hang all over our house and maybe even progress to hammocks or chairs (as seen below). my whole house could be macrame ha! it kinda makes me think of my hemp weaving days at 14. hmmm. well, here's some macrame with some crochet thrown in just because.

I flew out to Austin on a Wednesday. The Long Beach airport already had a party vibe at about noon (my dad always drops me off extra early at the airport) since one half of the terminal in my section was going to Vegas. My gate had all the band members/music execs/scouts/groupies/etc. all asking why each other was going to Austin/what are doing there/who are you seeing/etc. The other half (to Vegas) was a bunch of 30s-40s men in matching baseball caps ready to start drinking early.
Once I got to Austin I took a cab to Comune's 'cabin mansion,' cracked open a beer and changed. Jason had left three days earlier with three of the Comune dudes on a road trip out there to shoot Braydon Szafranski and Gareth Stehr. We drove out to 6th Street and ended up at the Coyote Ugly mistakenly. Which was interesting. Then took a cab out to a warehouse to see our friends Magda Wosinska and Ethan Fowler's band Green and Wood. It was byob so we took the band van to find some booze but I GUESS hard liquor isn't sold after 9 (i did not know this!). The guys settled on either cases of beer or mad dog 20 20. I settled on a nice warm bottle of cook's. we chilled in a field til the band played, and then chilled in the field some more. It was cool. I loved it.
Thursday (St. Patrick's Day) at noon we headed to get breakfast at an Argentinian restaurant (that the guys ended up going to everyday, oh men) to have mimosas or beer mosas. Then we headed to the Thrasher party at the Scoot Inn to watch the half pipe. Then the day just, well, kinda unfolded. I saw my cousin which was amazing. We went to Shangri-LA and saw Dirty Beaches. We started walking to see The Strokes in downtown and hitched a ride (the 7 of us) in some girl's small car and ended up at the Wu-Tang show 3 hours early. I had an amazing home-made Oreo. I had an amazing food truck grilled cheese. We met up with the directors of our Cee-Lo video Dori Oskowitz and Marc-Edouard Leon. We met up with Dustin Beatty. We rode in a cab with a man who was playing the most relaxing jazz, and we did not want to get out. We went to a house party with Classixx. Then we went back to the 'cabin mansion' and threw a tennis ball around. yes.
I flew back the next day. I was able to have lunch (and mimosas at 'their' usual Argentinian restaurant) but then had to leave. Jason and the crew stayed til Sunday. I wish I had. I had a blast.I love Austin.

So I've been sick for a week now and I've never slept so much in my life. Probably 20 hours just yesterday! Which means that I am going insane. Why is it that having a sick day always sounds like such a good idea until you actually are sick and miserable. And of course always comes at the worst time. 4 months until the wedding, and we have so much to do! Laying around all week means that I've been laying around freaking out over wedding inspiration blogs. You should see my desktop right now. Well, this morning I made a decision to not be sick anymore. There, said it, done.

P.S. See those trousers Erin Wasson is wearing down there? They are from Novella Royale and I ordered myself a pair earlier this week. Mine are white and black though, and they fit so hot. I can't wait to get better so I can go strut my stuff in 'em.

I'm back from SXSW and recuperating because I'm as sick as sick can be. BUT I had an awesome time. I can't wait to share photos from the trip but at the moment they are either in film or polaroid form sitting in a van driving through New Mexico. Soon soon. For now I wanted to share this video of Dirty Beaches. We caught his act Thursday afternoon at Shangri La and every one of us were into it. His music makes me feel like I'm in some dark movie driving through the desert. Heres the vid of one of his songs we caught overlayed with Gareth Stehr frolicking through the front (back?) yard of our cabin mansion. Also, the video is from Comune's tour diary. Check it out it you want to see what the Comune dudes have been up to on this southwest trip, and if you want to catch some ultra trashy photos of yours truly. Im not sure whats up with me snarling so much, Austin must have brought out the evil woman in me.

So, once again it's Valentine's Day. I used to hate it, but now it's okay. Well, since I've been with Jason it's been pretty awesome. We met on Valentine's Day and he proposed to me also on Valentine's last year. We just say it's our anniversary since we are not sure the exact date we became a couple. This year we celebrated a night early, since I had to work, by having dinner at Dan Tana's and having wine in the Chateau Marmont lobby. Very Hollywood-y. But I thought I would put together a couple of my favorite photos since we met. I am really excited to be marrying my best friend this year. Since I've met him we have had so much fun. He makes me laugh like crazy, he's spontaneous in the best way and I only imagine a beautiful, exciting, sunny life with him. Here's to many more travels, many more nights sitting in the car listening to music and swigging cham, and many more hilarious Leon wrestling matches. Heres to us! Happy Valentine's Day my love!

Toooo tired to do anything but upload random pics I've been saving on my desktop. Being a peacock all night in class took alot out of me. Ha! Anyways, besides uploading random pics, I'm searching the world wide web for a decently priced bridesmaid dress. Something lemon chiffon ala Kate Moss. Not having any luck. Having a little bridesmaid shindig on Friday night, and I'd like to let the ladies know what they may be wearing. Well, I gotta go practice my southern accent. Took some new pics from Bonadrag recently, how amazing are these Mara Hoffman swimsuits and dresses? I've been a fan since I saw the galaxy bikini she made awhile back. I think I'm pretty much ready for spring and these bikinis don't help. I'm over this hot/cold/hot/cold weather thing that's going on. I've realized most of my wardrobe is hot appropriate. Anyways, I'm ready to hang out at the beachhouse all weekend, jumping in the waves during the day in one of these bikinis and drinking margaritas at night in one of these dresses. Oh, and get a tan again!

Just saw the Irregular Choice SS 2011 lookbook the lovely Kim Gordon of Wildfox shot and styled. So I had to repost it. It's adorable, the model and styling are hot, and its shot all around Silverlake. But my favorite part of it are the shots of the model twirling around in my local liquor store and sitting on the LA Express box outside of it across from the car wash. I too twirl around in that liquor store when I'm buying my booze. I do.

Palm Springs New Year

So I spent my New Year's Eve holding a serving tray BUT I was able to kiss my man at midnight. The next day we headed out to Palm Springs with Andrew and Kelley to celebrate the the first day of the year. We spent the night drinking at the Ace, gambling at a casino and trying to find a decent gay club to go dancing at. No such luck. The next day we were going to head home after thrifting but decided to go check in at the Desert Springs Marriott instead. That place is way too relaxing. We sat in the lobby until closing, Kelley and I drank dirty martinis while the boys had one too many beers and Jameson shots. We finished off the night in the hot tub.
Back to normal life, trying to stick to some productive New Year's resolutions (working out, getting up early, blah blah blah) and starting to work on the wedding on a weekly basis. Its 8 months away!! This year is gonna fly but there's so much to look forward to!

I just noticed that I wrote this back in December and saved it as a draft. Might as well post it.

So, once upon a time I studied abroad in France. Aix-en-Provence, for a year. Let's be honest, it was a very tough year. When I arrived I was extremely jet-lagged, it was extremely hot and I was extremely confused. I had only a year of French before and we were staying in some dorms on the out skirts of town until we found permanent apartments. I managed to find some friends and get an apartment in the center of town (although I was never able to converse with my landlord). I thought things would get easier, but its really interesting to hang out with a group of people all from Cal State schools in another country. Everyone is a fish out of water, and drama as well as emotions escalated quickly. Beyond that though, I can look back now and appreciate everything I experienced. A road trip through France to see the castles to Paris where we had the most insane all-nighter, Marseilles where I used to go to H&M (before it was in America) and my wallet got stolen by a gypsy, Venice on Halloween and sleeping in a freezing cold tin cabin and drinking red wine, New Year's Eve in Madrid staying in hostel and dancing all night with all the our friends from different countries staying at my hostel (especially a certain boy from New Guinea), taking a trip by myself to Paris, drinking in faux-irish pubs, and Noelle and my trip to Corsica. That in itself is a story. Our ferry stopped suddenly in the middle of the night and the whole ship went black. Noelle and I had a little cabin too far from town in the off season I guess where we ate all our food (and drank to much alcohol) too early. We starved for days but found the most gorgeous beach an hours walk away. Sorry for such a long post. My uncle and aunt went to Aix recently and I've been thinking it would be nice to go and relive it with Jason. Fuck not fully speaking the language. I wanna go dance, and eat and drink and stare at my old haunting grounds. By the way. for the life of my me I can't find my old roommates. Megan Enochs and Noelle Long, where are you?
