true beauty

It is so strange to come across one of these photos in random fashion blogs scattered amongst pics of Erin Wasson, Daria Werbowy and Dree Hemingway. Being that they are photos of my grandparent's house in Glendora where I lived for a year while my parent' s house was remodeled in 6th grade. My boyfriend did a shoot there in August and since then it has been extremely surprising for me to come across them. My grandfather had the house built in the 60's and I've always loved the (carpeted) bathroom with its blue and green floral wallpaper (even on the ceiling) and sunken bathtub (and bamboo outside the window), the wood panelled living room with hologram owl pictures, the kitchen with all its weird drawers (complete with Playboy bunny swizzle sticks and Menehune chopsticks (??)), an indoor barbecue, and the beautiful backyard with it's turquoise pool, succulent plants, and deck overlooking the city. On a clear day you can see Santa Monica. And as a kid, downtown always looked like OZ. When I come across these pics I can only think of exploring the hills with my (very imaginative) grandpa, my grandma's "chop-chop" cookies, and our beautiful Christmas's in the white carpeted living room. I always had my own mini Christmas tree in the family room (I'm an only child...go figure). I know Mr. Paul R. McDonald is always watching me from heaven but I am sure he was especially pleased to know that his house was used for cute frisky model shoot... hell, who wouldn't?

aimless

It's been said time and time again but god Kate Moss is the epitome of cool.
I cannot find these and it's driving me crazy. Yes, cheapness can bring out the craziness in me. It's very sad to say...

Just read an article on this book that is coming out. I love citystairs. Living in Silverlake I'm always coming across them. I especially love them when they are super hidden and overgrown with bushes or when I am able to see into people backyards. Which, in Silverlake, can often be very eccentric. I feel like an explorer while working out. It's pretty great.

And finally, my hair might look like this by the end of the day...or the end of the week. Who knows, it's envitable.

quarter life crisis

All I wanna do is dye my hair pale violet, listen to the Misfits, sneak drink Champagne, play Ms. Pacman at the arcade, rip my tights and get into the bar using my fake ID (which said I was 5'4, 138. ummm right). I'll pass on the belly ring this time around though.

white light

I thought these photos of Anja Rubik in Vogue Nippon were pretty already but now that I'm thinking about dresses, they take on a whole new light. (The first lace dress. Amazing) And I'm always trying to look like Brigitte (huge hair, cat eyes). Nothing new.

long story short

Jason and I met 2 years ago...on Valentine's Day. So, we just say that the 14th is our anniversary. Well...Jason surprised me with a trip to New York. During fashion week nonetheless.
We started off our first night with champagne and chocolate strawberries. Umm, yes!
Then moved on to Jim Beam shots and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Um, yes #2!

Met up with Mr. Jimmy Fontaine
and things were good, very good.

The Empire State building at 1:30am (is very windy)

On Valentine's Day we took a walk through Central Park

and then he proposed! (Kinda had an idea he would, but then started to think maybe he wouldn't) He set up the camera for 3 self-timer shots and this was my reaction...
Reaction #2 (3rd reaction was too blurry since we fell to the ground)
Then we went to the Met

drank beer
and played pool. Amazing Valentine's!

Met up with Shawn (of Costume Dept.) at the Diesel Black/Gold party

A butterfly on my head
The statue of liberty is very far away.

Attended the Jeremy Scott party
(wearing a Costume Dept. dress)
Smirnoff and sassy (or trashy)
Last night. Metal magazine party

All in all...a fantastically cold and snowy, boozy flowy, engaged and glowy week. Back to Cali. Now I gotta start planning a wedding!
